Another glorious year with 52 box-office
Fridays has come to entertain everyone with its super range of Bollywood
flicks. All in all, about 63 Hindi films are coming this year, in which these 16
films, due to their story, plot, treatment and star cast are supposed to rock the
big silver screen:
Airlift
Akshay Kumar and Nimrat Kaur will be seen in
their upcoming serious film ‘Airlift’, based on the biggest human evacuation in
the history of mankind during the Gulf war of 1990 between Iraq and Kuwait. The
film is directed by Raja Krishna Menon and produced by T-series which has
earlier given films like ‘Baby’ and ‘D Day’. Airlift is the story of all those
1,70,000 Indians who were brought home in the most victorious evacuation in the
history of the world. The film is releasing on 22nd Jan.
Neerja
Director Ram Madhvani comes with the best
ever on screen performance given by Sonam Kapoor in his upcoming film ‘Neerja’.
The actress in the role of brave air hostess Neerja Bhanot, takes you through
her life journey who gave up her life to save 359 lives on a plane, hijacked by
terrorists. The film is coming on 19th Feb.

Aligarh
The film ‘’Azhar’ is based on the real life
story of Azharuddin, one of the most successful captains of Indian Cricket
team. Cricketer, who was accused of match fixing and faced outage from the
team, was later freed by the court. Actor Emraan Hashmi is playing the role of
Azharuddin. Moreover, Azharuddin’s son is working as asst. director of the film
which is going to be released on 13th May.
Sarbjit
Indian filmmaker Omung Kumar is coming with a
real life story of an Indian national Sarbjt Singh, who unknowingly crossed
the border and entered into Pakistan from his village. Later, he was convicted
of spying and series of bomb blasts in Faisalabad. And was sentenced to life
imprisonment by the court. Two years back, he was killed by his fellow inmates
in the Lahore jail. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Randeep Hooda are playing the
lead roles as Dalbir Kaur and Sarbjit respectively in the film which is coming
in theatres on 20th May.
Mirziya
‘Rang De Basanti’ and ‘Delhi-6’ fame Rakeysh
Omprakash Mehra is coming with an epic love story set in Rajasthan. The film is
inspired by the Rajasthani folk tale of “The legend of Mirza – Sahiban”. Anil
Kapoor’s son Harshvardhan Kapoor and Tanvi Azmi’s niece are debuting in this
action romantic film. The film is all set to hit the big silver screen on May
13.
Udta Punjab
Releasing on 17th June, this film
is based on illegal drug trading in the state of Punjab. The drama thriller
film is directed by Abhishek Chaubey, starring Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt,
Kareena Kapoor Khan and Diljit Dosanjh in lead roles. Shahid and Kareena will
be seen first time in this film after ‘Jab We Met’, however, the two are not
together in any scene in the film. Once again Shahid will be seen opposite Alia
after ‘Shaandaar’.
Mohenjo Daro
Scheduled for a worldwide release on 12th
Aug, the epic film portrays a love story in the era of Indus Valley
civilization. Director Ashutosh Gowariker and super star Hrithik Roshan are
once again collaborating after their 2008 film ‘Jodhaa Akbar’. A lot of
research work has been done for the film and a team of seven such archeologists
are working jointly who have given 25 years of their life in the research work
of Indus Valley civilization.
Raees
Shah Rukh Khan Starrer ‘Raees’ is influenced
by real life events and is set in 1980’s Gujarat. The crime thriller film is
directed by Rahul Dholakia and features Shah Rukh Khan, along with Nawazuddin
Siddiqui and debutant Pakistani actress Mahira Khan. Whereas, Nawaz is playing
the role of Police inspector, Mahira has set her image due to the popularity of
Pakistani serials in India. The film is set to hit the silver screen on Eid
2016.
Sultan
Salman Khan is playing the role of Haryana
based wrestler Sultan Ali Khan in this Ali Abbas Zafar film. The sports drama
film features ‘Kai Po Che’ fame Amit Sadh as young Salman Khan, whereas,
Randeep Hooda is playing the role of Khan’s coach. Moreover, Nawazuddin will
also be seen in the film which is scheduled to release on Eid and will clash
with SRK’s ‘Raees’.
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil
Karan
Johar, who is producing films for a long time is now back after 4 years as a
director of ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’. The romantic film which is scheduled to
release on 28th Oct features Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor
and Anushka Sharma in lead roles. Moreover, Pakistani film actor, Fawad Khan is
also appearing in the role of a dashing DJ in the film. Also, most of the
shooting of the film is getting done in the exotic locations of London and
Austria.
Bahubali: The Conclusion
This one is the sequel of last year’s
‘Bahubali’, which broke all the earlier records at the box office. Director S.
S. Rajamouli is going to portray the main story in this part of the film. Also,
this time all the characters and their mutual relationships will be showcased
in detail. The action packed film is expected to release somewhere in middle of
the year.
Dhoni: The Untold Story
Neeraj Pandey is directing this biopic film
which is going to be released in the month of September. The Bollywood
biographical film portrays the untold tales of Indian skipper Mahendra Singh
Dhoni. Whereas, Sushant Singh Rajput is playing the role of the protagonist,
Anupam Kher is playing as his father, Paan Singh. Also, ‘Fugly’ fame Kiara
Advani is playing the role of Dhoni’s wife Sakshi.
Shivay
Ajay Devgn starrer Shivay is set for release
on Diwali 2016. Being the director and producer of the film, Ajay is extremely
busy is the shooting and pre-production work of the film. The film portrays the
character inspired from Lord Shiva in a modern way. A huge part of the film is
going to be shot in the icy mountain ranges of Poland, Bulgaria and Iceland.
Dangal
Aamir Khan Starrer ‘Dangal’ is a biographical
sports drama film directed by Nitesh Tiwari. The film portrays the life story
of Haryanvi wrestling Coach Mahavir Singh Phogat who taught wrestling to his
daughters Babita and Geeta. Interestingly, Geeta is India’s first female
wrestler to win the gold medal at the 2010 CWG and her sister Babita won the
silver. Film is scheduled to release on X-Mas.
