‘Shahid’ famed
director Hansal Mehta is all ready with his upcoming film ‘Aligarh’, starring
Manoj Bajpayee. The film will have world premiere on Oct 4 at the 20th Busan
International Film Festival.

The story of the
film ‘Aligarh’ is based on the real life incident of Dr Shrinivas Ramchandra
Siras, who was fired from his job because of his sexual-orientation. Siras was
the professor of Marathi at the Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, who later
committed suicide. Bajpayee is playing the role of Siras in this film, coupled
with the National Award-winning actor Rajkummar Rao who is playing a journalist
in the film.
The 10-day festival from October 1 to 10 will be
held in South Korea and it will open with actor Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Zubaan’, co-produced
by ‘The Lunchbox’ famed Guneet Monga. Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap will also be the
part of the film festival as a jury member for the New Currents competition in
the Asian films section at the festival.
